Virginia Pro-Life License Plate!

Senator Ken Cuccinelli is introducing a Virginia bill that will come up in the 2009 (Jan-Mar) General Assembly Session for a Virginia Pro-Life License Plate! At least 350 pre-paid applications for a plate will be required, and many of the parishes in the diocese are also gathering petition signatures, so the bill will have more force when it hits the committee hearing.

If the bill passes, $15 of every $25 of the plate's annual fee will be donated to pro-life organizations (Crisis Pregnancy Center, etc). (In Florida, they've raised over $5 million!)

To sign print an application or to sign the petition, go to: www.vachoose-life.org

Proposed Bill Could Thwart Hundreds of Pro-Life Laws
The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops' Pro-Life Secretariat has urged clear, vigilant, and persistent advocacy against an extremely dangerous bill being considered by Congress called the "Freedom of Choice Act" (or FOCA). The Pro-Life Secretariat has expressed grave concern to state Catholic conferences that FOCA would, if enacted and signed into law, sweep away hundreds of pro-life laws and policies at the state and federal levels! You are highly encouraged to respond to the USCCB-approved alert in the following link, and to forward it to as many other people as possible who may share your concerns: www.nchla.org
